Unpacking Service Houston

The movers arrived and have unloaded all your boxes of belongings. Now comes the task of unpacking all of those boxes and putting things away.

Unpack your belongings like a professional mover. Start with essentials and focus on one room at a time. Realize you do not have to unpack everything at once.

To start out, consider your family's basic and most essential needs (food, rest and bathing) and begin to unpack accordingly.

Wishing you did not have to unpack?

If you need some extra hands we can help:

  • Unpack and put away belongings in an organized manner
  • Organize the kitchen and pantry (put away dishes, glasses, pots and pans)
  • Put away clothes, shoes in closets
  • Hang your clothing
  • Sort and organize linens  and towels
  • Organize and put things away in the living room and dinning room
  • Set up bathrooms, put away toiletries
  • Unpack books onto bookshelves
  • Set up the bedrooms and make the beds
  • Set up playrooms for kids
  • Shop for organizations products
  • Remove packing materials

Get Rid of Storage Unit, save money

Professional Organizer Houston will help you get rid of storage unit and save you money.

"Whoever started the storage business is a genius.”

Why people pay to keep their things in storage?
Common reasons/answers: they moved to a smaller house, inherited stuff from a parent, or just accumulated too much to keep at home.

The sad part is when renters lose their belongings when they cannot pay their bills. Or when they die.

Then the storage units are put up for auction.
“At auctions of storage units, the contents are a mystery. Amid the junk buyers may find Rolexes and diamonds, or just someone else's sad story.”

Can you imagine all of your belongings being auctioned off to the highest bidder because you can't afford to pay the storage unit fees?

According to the Self Storage Association, 50% of storage unit renters are storing what won't fit into their homes. 1 out of every 11 Americans rents storage.

“The self-storage business is booming thanks to a nation of pack rats who cling to such things as 8-track tapes and pants with waist sizes long surpassed.”

Tip:
If you have had a storage unit for longer than six months, it’s time for you to have a garage/craigslist sale. You will not only be saving yourself $50-$80 a month in storage fees, but you’ll also make some many selling all of your old unwanted stuff.

Make a committment to yourself and your wallet, to get rid of your unwanted stuff within two months.

I can arrange for local charities to pick up unwanted items and get you a receipt for tax purposes.
I can drive to Goodwill to donate unwanted itmes, or hold a garage sale for you, for anything you don’t or can’t wear or use any more.

Remember: Use the two-year rule — if you haven’t worn it in two years, it’s time to say goodbye to it.

How To Organize Your Closet

Contact Professional Organizer Houston to get your closet organized. Make getting dressed fast and easy every morning.

Organizing a closet is never easy, especially if you have more stuff than available closet space.

The fastest way to organize your closet is to own fewer clothes because visually it will be easier to find what you’re looking for.

To organize your closet, take everything out and put  it on your bed; go through each piece of clothing one item at a time and assess when you wore it last.  If you haven’t worn something in one year and it’s in good repair, donate it to charity.

Start three piles of items: those you want to keep, those you will donate/throw away and a pile for maybes. Anything with too much wear, holes or stains needs to go straight into the trash. Holding on to old, damaged or unused items creates clutter, which slows down the flow of energy.

Few tips for organizing your closet

Tip 1: Don't keep what You Don’t Need/Wear
Tip 2: Go through your closet twice a year to maintain an organized wardrobe
Tip 3: Break the project down into small chunks, so its not so overwhelming
Tip 4: Get rid of all the wire hangers and dry cleaner bags cluttering up the closet
Tip 5: Use all the same hangers
Tip 6: Have the hangers facing the same way
Tip 7: Separate the types of clothes – group shirts with shirts, pants with pants, dresses with dresses
Tip 8:Organize by color – after you’ve separated the clothes by type and style - now it's time to organize them by color – all white short sleeve shirts together, all blue jeans togehter, etc.
Tip 9: Don’t keep anything on the floor

Got messy closet? It is time to get organized!

Getting rid of items you don't wear on a regular basis is a key part of keeping your closet clutter-free.

Holidays are over and New Year is coming up - Now is a great time to clear out the clutter. Roll up your sleeves and Get Organized!

Here me - organizing my own closet (posing for my blogger page/ business advertising purpose).

I took 3 bags of unwanted clothes to Buffalo Exchange near Montrose. Yeah! Got $200 store credit :-)

From Rubbermaid " I am not sure which is more stuffed after this holiday...my stomach or my closet :) I see some  de-cluttering and donating in my future!!! "

When closet organizing - please spend a little time and get rid of all the wire hangers.
Here..I was organizing my client's closet in Houston and I have removed about 200+ wire hangers

Try to use the same kind of hanger for all your clothes  - it makes a huge difference :-)

Lately - very popular "slimline / huggable hangers" - non-slip velvety finish that prevents clothing from slipping off the hanger and protects delicate garments.

Organize your clothes in your closet by color and make your life easier, or I can do it for you..

Organizing Tips for Closets

Professional Organizer Houston Has Organizing Tips for Closets.

Rotate Clothes
The clothing items that take up the most room should be more readily available. Keep out-of-season clothes, shoes, and accessories in the back of the closet or in another closet; same for those "wish clothes" that don't fit but you can't bear to get rid of~~ Better Homes and Gardens

houston professional organizer

Stay Organized
Sort clothes by category or color to make it easy to find what you need. Insert garment organizers or use multicolored hangers to label your groupings. Also, professional organizers suggest turning all of the hangers in your closet the opposite way. Every time you wear an item, turn the hanger around. After a few months, you can clearly see what clothing items you could live without~~ Better Homes and Gardens

I want to share with you with some of my photos of closet organizing projects.

Storing your clothes well means they'll always look their best. And when your closets and drawers are well organized, you'll find you wear more of your clothes more often.

Get Your Home Organized for Fall

As you say good-bye to summer, get your home in tip-top shape for fall with these handy organizational solutions.

Mudroom Organized

Problem: You waste precious time every morning running around the house looking for the items you need for the day.

Solution: Use a "transfer basket" to gather everything that needs to go out the door the next day -- library books, bills to mail, schoolwork, etc. Haul the basket to your car every morning and bring it back into the house when errands are done.

Closet Organized -Take Inventory

Problem: Your closet is overflowing, yet you still can't find anything to wear.

Solution: You should have only three types of clothes in your closet -- clothes that fit you, clothes you love, and clothes that always bring you compliments.

-- Peter Walsh, author of Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat?

Pantry Organized-Open and Shut

Problem: You don't have any extra drawers to allocate for a "junk" drawer.
Solution: The backs of many doors can be hidden storage gems. Attach shallow wire shelving to closet, pantry, and basement doors. If there's space, line the adjoining interior wall with narrow shelves and hooks for items such as cleaning supplies, handy tools, or pantry goods.

Organizing on a budget in Houston

Professional Organizer Houston will help you get organized on a budget.

Organizing does not have to be expensive!

It may not seem instinctive, but organizing your stuff can save you money.

Simply, if you know where everything is, you don’t have to go out and buy duplicates.
Disorganization costs you more money in the long run. Do you realize how many things you have misplaced due to disorganization in a years time, just to find out later that you have to go out and purchase it again?

I love the Container Store, but if you would like to save some money – you can stop by Walmart - they have very affordable containers, cheap hangers, office supplies, etc.
