Declutter to sell your home

Are you planning to sell your house? Professional Organizer Houston will declutter your house.

In real estate, buyers buy space. The more space you're able to show, whether it be living or storage space, the more you'll be able to sell for. Unfortunately, that's easier said than done. Most people are pack rats. Rooms have too much furniture and you'll find stuff overflowing in every nook and cranny. There's little space for walking sometimes, much less for living.

De-cluttering is the process of reclaiming the space in your house from years of collecting and storing. Don't expect the buyers to ignore all this and imagine your house in its clutter-free state. Buyers sometimes see dozens of houses in one day and their brains are overtaxed.

De-clutter so the buyers can see your house, not your mess.

Organize your kitchen

Professional Organizer Houston can help to organize your kitchen, and make your family life flow more smoothly when it comes to meal preparation.

The kitchen is an area of your home that gets used more often than most other areas. So it stands to reason that if your kitchen were more organized and simple to use, your life would feel easier.

Organize Appliances
Frequently used small appliances, such as a toaster and coffeemaker, should be stored on the counter; ones seldom needed on a lower cabinet. Install a drawer onto a deep lower shelf for appliances used occasionally, such as a rice cooker and blender.

Keep Like With Like

Store Smart
Store your most frequently used items in the most accessible places. Keep things you use most often at eye level; store heavy items below waist level; and infrequently-used items on high shelves or in another area of the house.

Organizing a Teen's Bedroom

Do you have a teenager's room full of clutter and want to get organized? Contact European Professional Organizer Houston

My clients are ready to de-clutter but many begin to feel overwhelmed, anxious, and defeated around the idea of decluttering  their teenager's  room.  If you have a teenager, you know it can often be a challenge for them to keep their bedroom clean and organized!  I hear "I've TRIED to tackle this mess a hundred times!! But I just end up frustrated beyond belief!"
Teenagers often struggle with balancing social life, studies and extracurricular activities. Add screen time, sleep deprivation and too much other stuff, and it is no wonder many students experience disorganization.

Below are some tips and ideas that will help your teen get their bedroom organized and hopefully encourage them to keep it that way!

How to help a teenager get organized:

1. Make the bed. This instantly makes the room look better and should be a daily habit.
2. Open the blinds or drapes to let the natural sunshine in so you can see what you are doing :)2.Take all of your dirty clothes and put them in your hamper or basket.
2. Hang up all of your clean clothes in your closet (Remember to hang most of your clothes up so you can always see the choices you have. You can organize them by color, style, or season).
3. Give away anything you don't need, want, etc. This "stuff" wastes a ton of space that you can use. Go through your clothes and get rid of anything that doesn't fit or that you haven't worn in the past few months. (Get rid of any worn-out clothes, move any items that are out of season to another storage area in your home and donate any gently used clothing your teen doesn't wear anymore to charity.)
-Do not leave trash around. Place a small trash can near your nightstand to keep tissues, receipts, and price tags from littering your dresser, bedside table, and other surfaces.
6. Hang your necklaces.  You don't need a fancy hanger to keep jewelry from tangling. All you need are colorful push pins to create a stylish (and easy!) organization station.

Owning fewer possessions: less to clean, less to organize, less stress, more money and energy for their greatest passions.

  • Vacuum any rugs or carpets, or sweep the hardwood.
  • Empty the garbage and recycle bins

Storage solutions

  • Give your teen his or her own laundry basket for their room.
  • If space allows, set up a desk for homework or other projects, and be sure to add a recycle bin underneath.
  • Use under-the-bed storage for such items as extra bedding, clothes or keepsakes.

Fold and put away or hang up all clean clothes (Have your teen get into the habit of putting away clothes fresh from the laundry)
3.Pick up everything from the floor, including what's under the bed, desk, etc

4. Sort by categories. Get some containers, they can be from The Container store or just old  boxes you already have. Separate your stuff in the containers such as maybe one container for hair stuff,  one for pencils or one for photos.

  • The key to a clean room is organization. Here are some ideas:
    • Give your teen his or her own laundry basket for their room.
    • If space allows, set up a desk for homework or other projects, and be sure to add a recycle bin underneath.
    • Use under-the-bed storage for such items as extra bedding, clothes or keepsakes.

Teenagers should also purge and organize their rooms once a month instead of once a year. It is amazing how quickly candy wrappers, crumpled papers, used tissues, old magazines and outgrown clothes can accumulate in a short period of time.
Providing your teenagers with the skills and tools to get organized is one of the most valuable gifts you can give your child.

Who better to help our teenager—and us—get organized than a professional organizer?

Are you overwhelmed by junk mail?

Junk mail can include credit card offers, advertisements and deals, and just about any other type of unsolicited mail that tries to sell you something you didn't really ask for.

Deal with the junk mail as it comes in the door so it doesn't re-accumulate.

Set up a well-functioning family command center for sorting your mail.

You will need a small area in your house, right next to where you sort your mail.  Consider what would work for you. Having a recycling bin close at hand would be ideal.

Tip:
Sign up for paperless billing. Instead of receiving paper bills through the mail, you can receive most of your bills via email and pay them online.

Sign up for online bill pay. One of the features of online banking is the ability to pay bills through your bank’s website. In the comfort of your home, you can pay a bill without needing to write a check, buy an envelope and a stamp, and travel to a post office.

Are you overwhelmed by paper junk mail and wish you could make it stop?

Houston Home Office Organizing

Got piles of papers? Contact Professional Organizer Houston to Organize Your Home Office.

Working from home requires self-discipline, it helps to have a dedicated space for a home office to allow for creative flow and isolation from daily distractions.

Organize your home office and improve your productivity - and profitability.

Being organized is being in control - to know the status of every aspect of your business at all times.

A messy, cluttered office can result in incomplete work, missed deadlines and lost information. Your desk is not a storage locker, it's a work surface. It is time to remove those piles of paper occupying your desktop.

The worst decision you can make is not making a decision about those piles, because no paperwork decision = greater paper buildup.  All documents need to have a home.
There really aren't very many choices for processing paper. Tossing them into the circular file is a very good option for some. Others to files for future reference, or your follow up system for papers you need at some later time, plus an ongoing project system.

Remember, the time spent searching through your office for a piece of paper, phone number or customer's address is unproductive time.

Want to succeed in your small business?

Get focused! Get organized!  Stay on task!

Ways to Organize Your Scarves Houston

Are you a great lover of scarves? Houston Professional Organizer has great storage solutions for your scarves.

Does you scarf collection just keep getting bigger and bigger?

These days, everyone is getting in on the scarf trend. And not just during winter. People are wearing scarves year round now. They’re collecting a variety of colors, patterns, fabrics, and styles.

Those of you who like to wear scarves probably might need a good storage solution for them.

Great way to organize your scarves is to use:

1. Scarf Hanger

Hanging your scarves takes zero drawer space and it displays them nicely for easy access.

18 Loop Scarf Hanger
18 Compartments in three different sizes

2. Scarf drawer

My favorite way :)
Wrapping your scarves around cardboard keeps them in great shape and makes them fit nicely into a basket or drawer.

If you have drawer space available, this is probably your best scarf storage option. Especially if your scarves are valuable or made of fine materials like silk, it’s best to keep them folded or rolled up in a drawer where they won’t become snagged, stretched, faded, or destroyed by pets. Rolling them is especially good because they won’t get creases.

3. PVC Pipe Scarf Organizer

PVC pipe is really inexpensive and is a great way to keep scarves and neckties organized. You will need to measure the height of each drawer and then just cut the pipe into the proper height. Depending on the depth of your drawer, you may be able to get several pipe organizers in there and then you just roll up your neckties and/or scarves and stick them in the pipes.

4. Towel Bar
You can install a basic towel bars on the inside of your French doors.

some other great ideas to store and organize your scarves...

Magdalena Bogdan, European Professional Organizer Houston
having a little bit of fun with my fabulous client who had 199 scarves: yes we counted them and yes we donated 1/3 to

Every season,  my client found herself adding new colors and patterns and fabrics, because she is a big believer that every outfit looks a whole lot cuter and more stylish with a scarf. That said, lots of scarves equals a big storage and organization issue.

I prefer to organize scarves first by color and then season. Scarves of similar hues are grouped together to make it easy to find the right scarf for whatever outfit you might be wearing. I also keep all-seasons scarves separate from those thicker, wool and knitted scarves generally reserved for winter.

If your scarf collection reaches the double digits, it is time to donate some out of style scarves to Goodwill .

I hope with some of those ideas your scarves will be organized and easy to find!
